CONVERTING.

After the printing and lamination processes, the final touch remains to be given to the product. The cutting and rewinding process and manaufacturing (bags industry) is the last process before palletizing and shipping of the flexible packaging.

It is the process by which the jumbo roll or mother roll is made of a printed or laminated material and is transformed into individual reels or rolls, which will later be processed in the wrapping machines or flow pack, or bags of multiple applications.

The process on which must be very controlled since the individual reels or rolls have to be cut according to very specific customer specifications, which are the ones required by their packaging machine (roll widths, roll diameter, internal core diameter, number of splices, tension of winding, etc. That’s why slitter/rewinders are the workhorses of the converting industry, rarely seen at the same level of attention as its closest processes: extrusion, printing, lamination, and it’s e n this cutting process where the added value of the shrinkage is greater, since it is the sum of all the previous processes. The waste created in the slitter/rewinders has a greater value than the waste from the previous processes.
